Designing intermodal services
Bridging the gap between public transport and private mobility

[Astrid Karl, Christian Maertins]

The road to intermodal transport is paved with difficult decisions, not least, because the shortcomings of the classic public transport system will have to be dealt with. For intermodal transport to be an attractive alternative to cars, public transport will have to be more easily available and more flexible in its service than it is today. This module presents three innovations in the field of public transport and analyses which of their characteristics are necessary for market integration. The paper concludes with an outlook on intermodal, individual mobility in the future.'
