Taxmobil – Custom made door-to-door transport

Transport theory holds that public transport will only gain significant numbers of customers in the future, if it can provide highly flexible door-to-door transport services. Therefore, it is little surprising that taxis have increasingly become the focus of attention for transport planners. Besides being flexible, widely known and well established as a transport mode, they can also muster the capacity to satisfy demand.

In the Taxmobil project we try to take the idea of door-to-door taxi transport even further through building a system, which operates without vehicles of its own. The plan is to utilize free capacities of existing transport services (like taxis and trains) and by pooling passengers into small groups, transport them wherever they want to go in a smooth, quick and cost-efficient manner.

The InnoZ is right at the forefront developments, advising Taxmobil on a range of practical issues from questions of viability to aspects of implementation and integration into public transport structures.
